How to identify Butterfly Valve Bolt thread Metric or Inches?

Bolt Thread

Do you want to know how to identify the bolt thread type on your butterfly valve?

Actually, I'm no expert on holes but I do know a thing or two based on my experience. That might save your time, effort, and money let get to it.

Butterfly Valve is easy to installed if you use the right tools and right materials especially the bolts. If you don't use the correct bolt type, size, and thread it will cost a lot of time, effort, stress, and money.

In this post, we going to discuss the bolt and holes thread because if you got the wrong thread type you might not install the valve at all.

B-valve

Two Ways to identify B-valve thread type.

1: Measure the thread using a tool (Thread Measuring Gauge) - Before replacing the valve prepare your material first remove one bolt on the valve and measure it using Thread Measuring Gauge Tool.

2: Check Valve specification size -
Generally as per my experience if we don't have the thread gauge tool we just take one bolt as per sample. But in some cases and situations, they will not allow you to do so.  So I suggest checking the valve specification. Like valve size, if it is mention in inches most probably the thread is in inches and if the valve size is in Millimeter it is metric (Ex: 8" and DN200)

A friendly reminder as always wear a piece of protective equipment and use tool and chemical away from children reach and always be positive stay safe, God Bless.
